Calibration Files and User Parameters

Calibration files are gathered in a single archive file per SSC release (ex: s13-0.zip). Files from the SSC first have to be converted, then archived.

How to include new releases

The conversion requires:

  • the set of conversion procedures

  • the Smart environment

  • the rogue masks by campaign

  • the SSC releases

Example of the call:

  • python convert.py s11-0 /usr/local/share/smart_testing/IRS_Calibration/formatted all_campaigns_roguemasks.tgz

Note that if entered 16-4 for instance, the conversion procedure will start with the latest available releases, and go down until the version entered is greater. Hence if there is no 16-4 but a 16-2, it will choose 16-2.

Known bug:

  • The user has to delete wavesamp-wave.fits and omask.fits before the conversion call.

A new archive has been created, that can be used in PYSMART.

How to change calibration files in PYSMART

A GUI is being implemented.

So far, PYSMART, when launched, creates a directory .pysmart/ in the home directory of the user. There, are the calibration files and settings of the program.

If no calibration file archive (sxy-x) is available, PYSMART creates a cache directory and uses a temporary wavesamp file. Details unknown....

The user can use archival files, by placing them in .pysmart/data/instruments/SpitzerIRS/calibration/

By default, PYSMART uses the latest release
